The Prayer Of Consecration and Dedication Or Re-dedication
Return To: Free Online Bible Studies
When you desire to live God’s will for your life specifically (your purpose or destiny in Christ) you need to pray the prayer of Consecration asking for God’s will to be done in your life. You are turning your will for what you do in your life over to God’s will. You can’t use other prayer for this request and commitment.
For instance, you you use the prayer of faith (petition) you’ll be asking God to give you something or do something for you that you desire, not asking for what He desires to do with your life.
To pray the prayer of consecration, you can follow my prayer below or change it to better match how you speak. You must have an attitude of living God’s will and not your own. If you’re not sure how yu feel, or you have some resistance, use the prayer of dedication for giving God’s Word (the Bible) first place in your life.
The Prayer Of Consecration Including Dedication Confession
Dear Lord, I am ready to live life your way, trusting you step by step as I live by the scriptures and receive your guidance to live your will for my life. I dedicate my life to you this moment and mean it with all of my heart. Please guide me now, Father, to live according to your will and walk with you to fulfill your purpose and plans for me alone. My will is to live the dreams that you have created in my heart and I trust that you will be with me all the way as I learn and act upon your Word as I learn it. Thank you Dear Lord. In Jesus Name I pray Amen.
How To Make God’s Will Come Alive In Your life
It’s important to keep your mind on what God’s Word says about you. Use the principle from Romans 10:17 for growing trust in God and faith in His Word. This will help you to walk with God and hear His guidance.
Romans 10:17 tells us that whatever we hear we will grow in faith for those specific words. We can grow in faith or fear. To avoid fear we have to become strong in God’s Word. I have created a few confessions for you to say. You can also create your own. Everything you say must be based upon God’s Word.
“I am walking in God’s will for my life.” “Everything I do I do it unto the Lord.” “God is the center of my life.” “I seek God for all major decisions I make.” I look to God for guidance in all the affairs of my life.” “I act upon His Word instead of my will and believe that I will be blessed in all the affairs of my life.”
Christians must be taught at salvation that we are born again so that we can become mature Christians, actively serving the Lord. Otherwise we don’t know what to do.
Philippians 3:12-14 (ASV) 12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, 14 I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
More About Christian Dedication
Once we’re saved we need to continue the process as Paul stated in Philippians 3:12-14. He didn’t look back, thinking he was done. Instead, he says that he will continue to stretch himself in Christ. This is the Christian commitment we need to have.
We need the kind of Christian dedication that will transform our lives through Jesus Christ. Along with salvation, it’s necessary to dedicate your life to Christ for spiritual growth and to live God’s will. The process is easy, but carrying it out takes the type of commitment Paul had. As you remain on this site and read the lessons provided, you’ll be able to develop your life through Jesus Christ with spiritual nourishment for the rest of your life. Christian dedication is a lifestyle.
If you need to re-dedicate your life to Christ, use the prayer below as a guide, changing it where necessary. It’s never too late with God to begin again.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for hearing my prayer. I have turned away from the Word as I have looked at those things which are not of you, but I am ready to follow you and take your lead for my life. Please forgive me for living life on my own terms and for not following the Bible and your guidance. I repent in the name of Jesus Christ and believe with my heart that I have received. I am ready, willing and desirous to follow your Word as my guide for living. In Jesus Name, Amen.
